Privacy policy

Effective 18 October 2026

Reel Study ("we", "us") operates reelstudy.com. We use account information and learning activity to provide your study experience and save your progress across devices. For privacy questions, contact support@reelstudy.com.

Information we collect

  • Account information: your email address, account identifier and any name or profile image you provide. Our authentication provider, Clerk, handles passwords, email verification and sign-in sessions.
  • Study information: the name you choose in the app, your study level and path, course selections, quiz answers, lesson completion, playback position, and settings such as playback speed and mute preferences.
  • Technical information: our hosting and authentication services process information such as IP addresses, browser and device details, request times and security logs to deliver and protect the service.
  • Messages: information you send us when requesting help or exercising your privacy choices.

When you choose Google sign-in

If Google sign-in is available and you choose it, Google shares basic identity information with Clerk and Reel Study: your Google account identifier, email address and verification status, and available profile information such as your name and image. This is used to create or authenticate your account and display your profile.

We do not request access to your Gmail messages, Google Drive files, contacts or calendar. We do not use Google account data for advertising or sell it. You can review or remove the connection through your Google Account connections. Removing the Google connection does not by itself delete your Reel Study account or saved learning data.

How we use information

We use information to create and secure your account, tailor your study path, deliver lessons and quizzes, remember preferences, sync progress, respond to requests and diagnose service problems. Where applicable, we process information to provide the service you request, protect the service and its users, meet legal obligations, or with your consent when required.

Services that help us run Reel Study

Clerk provides authentication and account management. Railway provides hosting and private storage for learning data and media. Google provides sign-in when you choose that option. These providers process information needed for their roles; we may also disclose information when legally required or necessary to address fraud, abuse or security incidents.

Providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their services are also covered by their privacy notices: Clerk, Railway and Google.

Cookies and storage on your device

We and Clerk use cookies and similar storage for sign-in and session security. Reel Study uses browser storage to remember settings, cache your study progress and queue changes while offline. Signing in allows those study records to sync with your account. You can clear browser storage in your browser settings; doing so can remove unsynced progress and sign you out.

Retention and deletion

We keep account and study information while it is needed to provide your account and the service. You can request a copy, correction or deletion of your information by emailing support@reelstudy.com from your account email. We may verify your identity before acting on a request.

Deleting an authentication account and deleting saved learning records are separate operations. Contact us to request deletion of both. Limited information may be retained where required for legal or security reasons, and residual copies may remain in provider backups until their normal deletion cycle.

Your choices

You can update available profile and security settings through your account. Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or transfer information, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a relevant data protection authority. Contact us to make a request.

Students and younger users

Use of the service must meet the age and parental-consent requirements that apply where you live. If a student needs a parent or guardian's permission, that permission is required before providing personal information. If you believe a child has provided information without required permission, contact us so we can review and address it.

Security and changes

We use authenticated access, HTTPS and private storage to protect account and study information. No online service can guarantee absolute security. We may update this policy as the service changes and will post the revised policy with its effective date. We will provide additional notice where required.
